24th January 2025

Cherie Blair attended Davos 2025 to focus on a range of issues surrounding the role of technology in closing the gender gap and the enpowement of women entrepreneurs.

At Citi Women’s Leadership Dinner Ida Lui, Global Head of Citi Private Bank, and Cherie Blair explored the opportunities and challenges shaping industries and the world, drawing on the strength of collective wisdom and diverse perspectives. Cherie spoke of the progress of women entrepreneurship, despite geopolitical complexities, and how we must scale and accelerate efforts to support more women in more markets.

Tania Bryer sat down with Cherie for CNBC to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing women entrepreneurs in an increasingly digital business landscape. The conversation explored topics that are closely linked to the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women’s research; including the impact of technology facilitated gender-based violence on women’s businesses.

CEO and co-founder of Mia AI, Janna Salokangas, hosted a fireside chat on women’s entrepreneurship as part of the Finnish Flow programme. As guest of honour, Cherie discussed her foundation’s ground-breaking research with Intuit and World Bank looking at how AI can both enable and undermine women’s entrepreneurship. The discussion highlighted how vital it is for AI training to be made available to women entrepreneurs in lower-middle income countries to ensure they are not left behind in the business world.

During the Representation Matters launch programme, Cherie joined a fireside chat on women’s entrepreneurship and the role of technology with Dr. Anino Emuwa, Founder of 100 Women Davos. Their discourse on female entrepreneurship and women’s inclusion in technology focused on closing gender gaps, solutions to key issues such as normalizing women-led innovation and breaking down barriers to funding female-led ventures. The women addressed digital gender violence and developing innovative funding mechanisms to tackle the persistent gender funding gap in entrepreneurship.

As keynote speaker at The Women Inspiring Network (WIN) event, Cherie spoke on the importance of women supporting women, sharing success stories of women entrepreneurs who are part of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women network, forging ahead in the face of discriminatory laws and regulations holding women back. Her message was one of hope for the future and encouragement to create a better world, embracing empowerment, solidarity, and progress.
