Celebrating International Women's Day 2025

10th March 2025

Cherie Blair marked International Women's Day with a powerful event at the Speaker's State Apartments, Palace of Westminster, alongside 50:50 Parliament. This collaborative initiative works with all political parties to drive women’s progress in politics. With women still outnumbered 2:1 across most elected bodies, their central goal remains the pursuit of equality. A lifelong advocate for women’s rights, Cherie Blair aligned her speech with this mission. Drawing attention to data from UN Women, highlighting that we are nearly 300 years away from achieving the Sustainable Development Goal of gender equality. The lack of a 50:50 candidate split in the last General Election further emphasises that this is an area for progress.

Women of the World (WOW) celebrated Internationals Women’s Day at Buckingham Palace. A reception hosted by their President, Her Majesty The Queen marks 15 years of WOW, which Cherie Blair attended. WOW strives for a gender equal future.
