World Refugee Day - 20th June 2019
The 20th June marks World Refugee Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of the situation of refugees and displaced peoples across the world, and an opportunity for the global community to commemorate the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees and to show their support and solidarity.
The Asian University for Women has a particularly strong connection to World Refugee Day, with more than 20% of their students coming from refugee communities. On this day, 20th June, they renew their pledge to continue to support refugees and other displaced women from anywhere in the world to get the best education they can provide them. Furthermore, they take the opportunity to applaud the work of the AUW graduates who are actively working in support of Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazaar, Bangladesh, making a difference on the ground in the face of often insurmountable challenges.
Please see the video below for more information about the the contribution they are making in responding to this urgent cause.
