After nearly three years of civil war, Syria sees Polio outbreak

Humanitarian Diplomat, Siddharth Chatterjee, who has worked with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and UNICEF to eradicate Polio, tells AL Jazeera how the disease has made a come back in Syria.

Amidst all the issues that Syria has to contend with, the last thing that was needed was the resurgence of a highly infectious disease. However the World Health Organisation has reported cases of 'acute flaccid paralysis cases' mainly in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor.
