Cherie Blair launches safety scheme at Crouch End school

Hornsey, Crouch End and Muswell Hill Journal, 16 July 2012

Pupils at Rokesly Junior School look set to tuck into a spongy delight during a visit from Cherie Blair.

The wife of former prime minister Tony Blair visited the school, in Rokesly Avenue, Crouch End, alongside her daughter Kathryn on Tuesday.

Mrs Blair took part in a cake sale at the school to mark the launch of a project to help keep school children safe.

The school is the first in the UK to benefit from the ‘Adopt A School’ scheme, in which volunteers will raise money to fund safety programme missdorothy.com.

Mrs Blair is an ambassador for Kids Taskforce, the organisation who set up the scheme, and her daughter is a volunteer at the group.

Headteacher Bola Soneye-Thomas said: “It’s a really important programme and means we are covering the whole of child safety.”
