Eastleigh needs a Labour MP like John who understands their worries about the future of the NHS, about jobs, and about the cost of living.
On the day before the by election in Eastleigh Cherie travelled down to support the Labour Party candidate, her long standing friend, John O'Farrell.
Together with Alan Whitehead MP they visited the Southampton General Hospital which is a few miles outside the constituency of Eastleigh but serves the people living there and provides employment.
The local NHS Trust offers a wide number of specialist services at this site for children and young people in the region and is currently in the process of building a dedicated state-of-the-art children's hospital within the main site which will bring all their paediatric services under one roof for the first time.
Cherie and John were pleased to have the opportunity to see for themselves the excellent standard of care being provided and to meet some of the young patients receiving both long and short term treatment.
Cherie said "I've known John O'Farrell for many years and I know he would make a tremendous MP for this constituency. So I wanted to come along and lend my support to his campaign and get the message to voters here to support him too. Eastleigh needs a Labour MP like John who understands their worries about the future of the NHS, about jobs, and about the cost of living."
Cherie also visited the local party headquarters for a cup of tea with some of the volunteers helping John with his campaign.
