EXPO 2015: Women and EXPO

Expo Milano addressed the universal theme of nutrition from an environmental, historical, cultural, anthropological, medical, technical-scientific and economic point of view. They approached it from a global perspective by stimulating and challenging all parts of society.

Earlier this month, Cherie visited Milan as a member of the International Advisory Board for "EXPO 2010: Women and EXPO". Cherie also hosted a lunch at Il Marchesino in Milan in order to promote her Foundation for Women. Expo Milano addressed the universal theme of nutrition from an environmental, historical, cultural, anthropological, medical, technical-scientific and economic point of view. They approached it from a global perspective by stimulating and challenging all parts of society.
Cherie spoke about her Foundation whilst participating in the women advisory board meeting for the 2015 Expo. One of her foundations projects called 'CARE' was approved after Cherie promoted and presented it. It provides mobile phones and other communications tools to over four thousand African women in order to give them entrepreneurial skills. Whilst there she participated in various workshops and listened to projects presented by Board Members Maria Christina Cedrini, Diana Bracco and Kerry Kennedy. Another project that was approved was in Togo helping young girls involved in growing tomatoes.
After visiting Milan, Cherie went on to see the Shroud of Turin and said
It has been a special spiritual experience. I have had this desire for many years...this is not my first time in Turin; I have been here many times, including the Duomo, but I had never seen the shroud. I was very touched by the face that, because of my presence here, the prayer was read in English.
