Cherie had the chance to spread the word about the Asian University for Women and her Foundation for Women during a recent visit to the Far East
Cherie Blair was invited to Singapore in April to give the Keynote Dinner Speech at the UBS Philanthropy Forum; and from there she travelled to Hong Kong where she met and spoke to UBS clients and staff. Chi Won Yoon, Chairman of UBS AG Asia Pacific, took her on a tour of the Trading Floor, following their private meeting about Philanthropy.
In both Countries Cherie was asked about her Foundation for Women which she established to support women's economic independence in the developing world. She was also asked about the importance of diversity, work-life balance and women's education, her commitment to which led to her decision to become Patron of the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh. There were also many questions on her life, the people who inspire her, her legal career, her book "Speaking for Myself" and her support for charities in Britain and overseas.
