Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
This month, for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, CLIC Sargent is highlighting the impact of cancer on the school life of younger children. Our new report, No child with cancer left out, shows that many young cancer patients face huge challenges in keeping up with their education and getting back to school during and after treatment. Not all receive the support they need, and the report sets out how CLIC Sargent, working with others, could improve this situation.
As a result of receiving treatment for leukaemia, Bradley, from Milton Keynes, missed most of his first year of primary school and could only attend three days a week in his second year. Read about the transition he had to go through when he was finally able to return to school full-time.
'Gig in the Garden' grows support for CLIC Sargent
This year's 'Gig in the Garden' in Somerset raised a fantastic £14,000 for CLIC Sargent. Taking centre stage was local band Young Generation, whose lead singer Francesca organised last year's event as a way to thank the charity for the support her family received when she was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 21 months.
Cardiff parents pedal to Paris
Teachers Jane and Tony cycled from London to Paris this year, raising more than £5,000 for CLIC Sargent, after being supported by the charity when their teenage son Jacob was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
